Reverend Joanna Lubkin
Rev. Joanna Lubkin found Unitarian Universalism at Arlington Street Church the same week she started studying to be a rabbi; the rest is history.
Raised and rooted in Judaism, she was ordained as a UU minister in 2016 and is committed to cultivating pluralistic, caring, collaborative, multigenerational, song-ful communities.
Joanna (or Rev. Jo, interchangeably) has felt at home in both parish ministry and community ministry settings.
From 2021-2023, she served as the interim minister at Theodore Parker Church in West Roxbury, where UUAC’s Rev. Heather Concannon is now the settled minister. Rev. Jo’s previous experience includes serving as minister at All Souls Church in Braintree, Communications and Digital Ministry Coordinator at First Church JP, UU Chaplain at Wellesley College, and many years teaching and leading Jewish children’s programming. In her spare time, she sings with the house band at The Sanctuary Boston and with the Arlington Street Church choir on her Sundays off.
As the Acting Minister of Faith Formation and Congregational Life, Rev. Jo works with children, youth, adults, and parents in our Lifespan Faith Formation program. She also leads worship, supports leadership development, and helps newcomers find a home at UUAC.
Joanna is accompanied by her Assistant to the Minister, disability service dog Sully, an affectionate black lab who will love to greet you during his off-duty times. They live in Jamaica Plain.
