Youth Faith Formation

Welcome To Our Youth Faith Formation Programs!

Youth programs at UUAC emphasize building inclusive community, justice-seeking, and spiritual exploration. With the exception of our Junior Youth Group, Faith Formation programs for young people in 7th-12th grade run from 12-2pm on Sunday afternoons. To see when our youth programs and other Faith Formation classes and groups are happening, check our Faith Formation Calendar.

For details of our current program offerings, to register your child for our programs, or with other questions, contact our Minister for Lifespan Learning, Rev. Joanna Lubkin.

Classes & Curriculum

OUR WHOLE LIVES (OWL): GRADE 7

Our Whole Lives (OWL) is our comprehensive sexuality education curriculum with the core values of self worth, sexual health, responsibility, and justice and inclusivity, led by trained facilitators. OWL helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. With a holistic approach, OWL provides accurate, developmentally appropriate information about a range of topics, including relationships, gender identity, sexual orientation, sexual health, and cultural influences on sexuality. OWL registration closes in October.

COMING OF AGE (COA): GRADE 8

Coming of Age (COA) is a special “confirmation” program for Unitarian Universalist youth in which participants explore UU identity, the big religious questions, theology, and more. The curriculum helps both and youth and their adult mentors, chosen from the congregation, define their beliefs and put their faith into action. Coming of Age registration closes in October.

Youth Groups

JUNIOR YOUTH GROUP: GRADES 6-8

Our Junior Youth Group (JYG) meets monthly on Friday evenings and is focused on fellowship and fun, offering our middle-schoolers and opportunity to connect with one another outside of the structure of Faith Formation classes.

SENIOR YOUTH GROUP: GRADES 9-12

Our Senior Youth Group (SYG) is led by our Youth Ministry Coordinator and seeks to offer a balanced youth program with opportunities for exploring worship and spirituality, learning, community-building, leadership, and social action.

SYG shares in worship with the congregation, curriculum and small group discussion, fellowship, and service. Contact us for more information about our Senior Youth Group.
