Welcome to the UUAC Music Ministry
Music is a vital part of our worship service, with congregational singing, anthems from the choir, introits by the children’s choir, and instrumental music. All of this reflects a variety of musical, spiritual, and cultural traditions that enrich our worship experience.
During the church year the choirs participate in church services, and are occasionally supplemented by guest soloists and instrumentalists.
We encourage all who have an interest in music to share their talents by participating in the musical life of the congregation.
The Meetinghouse Choir
The Meetinghouse Choir sings for Sunday services approximately every other week and for special services like Christmas Eve. The choir is open to all singers ages 14 and up. There are no auditions. Whether you are a proficient music reader or just getting started, there is a place for you.
We are always eager to welcome new members. Speak to Sarah Deveau, Director of Music Ministries, with any questions, or come to a rehearsal on a Thursday night.
Rehearsals
We rehearse every Thursday night from 7 to 8:30 in Unity Hall and on Sunday mornings before services.
No auditions — all singers ages 14 and up are welcome.
Sing With Us
There are no auditions, and there is a place for you — whether you are a proficient music reader or just getting started.
The Celebration Choir
The Celebration Choir is a group that forms twice a year for our special Music Sunday services. Many members of the Meetinghouse choir participate, as well as others who love to sing but cannot commit to weekday evening rehearsals or year-round participation. Celebration Choir rehearses on Sunday mornings for 8-10 weeks prior to the Music Services.
Our wonderful Music Sunday services have a wide variety of themes as well guest soloists and instrumentalists.
Past Music Sundays featured winter holiday music, Schubert’s Mass in G, Uns ist ein Kind geboren, Faure’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, music of John Rutter “Singing for Human Rights” special program, Mozart’s Missa Brevis in C, and John Kramer’s The Immigrant Experience.
