Mission:

To provide winter mittens, hats, and scarves to local individuals and families in need.

Description:

Red mitten with green tree on itThe mission of the Mitten Tree program is to provide new winter mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves to local individuals and families in need. As part of our annual “Deck the Halls” service in December, we decorate the evergreen tree in the sanctuary with winter items purchased or knitted by the congregation. After the service, items are collected and delivered to the Natick Service Council for distribution.

Schedule:

The “Deck the Halls” service takes place annually on a Sunday in December.

Participation:

The entire congregation participates in this activity by purchasing or knitting new mittens, gloves, hats and scarves and decorating the “Mitten Tree.” This is a fun and caring activity for all individuals and families! Other ways to help are to collect and bag up donated items after the “Deck the Halls” service, and to deliver donated items to the Natick Service Council.

Additionally, the Natick Service Council welcomes volunteers and financial donations throughout the year in support of their efforts for our local community, including emergency aid, a food pantry, housing assistance, heat and utility assistance.
